Videos: Three documentary videos, provided to reinforce the sessions presented in the written material, are filmed in assisted living communities with actual residents and caregivers. Assisted Living: A New Approach to Care (run time: 10:56) This introduction to assisted living demonstrates the principles of choice, independence and dignity using real-life interaction between caregivers and residents. Aging Sensitivity (run time: 14:55) This insightful look at the physical and emotional realities of aging equips caregivers with a deeper understanding of the aging process and the losses seniors experience. It features interviews with seniors who talk about aging and how it has impacted their lives. Dining Services in Assisted Living (run time: 13:00) Staff members learn to properly set up and clean, safely deliver meals and escort residents to and from the dining room. They learn the importance of maintaining resident dignity during dining and discover ways to assist wandering residents and those who have other physical or dietary limitations. |
