The Orientation Series provides an in-depth introduction to aging sensitivity, residents' rights, and best practices for customer service. Focus includes explanation of assisted living principles of resident choice, dignity, and independence. This program consists of  3 videos with instructors guides (see below for detailed description of videos), 3 participant manuals, tests, and certificates.  Certificate of study awarded upon successful completion of final exam.

Written materials are presented in short modules estimated to take 15-30 minutes to complete.  Materials are designed to communicate clearly and to maximize retention.  Review questions are provided as reinforcement throughout the course.  A final exam reviews the entire course.  Contents include:

Assisted Living: A New Approach to Care (run time: 10:56) This introduction to assisted living demonstrates the principles of choice, independence and dignity using real-life interaction between caregivers and residents.

Aging Sensitivity (run time: 14:55) This insightful look at the physical and emotional realities of aging equips caregivers with a deeper understanding of the aging process and the losses seniors experience.  It features interviews with seniors who talk about aging and how it has impacted their lives.

Dining Services in Assisted Living (run time: 13:00) Staff members learn to properly set up and clean, safely deliver meals and escort residents to and from the dining room.  They learn the importance of maintaining resident dignity during dining and discover ways to assist wandering residents and those who have other physical or dietary limitations.
